Day Two: Challenge "A Book"

So I've mentioned my love of photo sharing/contests websites, like Photocrowd, ViewBug, and 500px. Last night I came upon a new one, Gurushots,  which is now my new favorite! They are all fun, immediate feedback is given, good or bad, and I highly recommend you check them out.

I picked the first community challenge I came upon for today, cause I've been up since 4 am, went shopping, to the laundry mat, (washer leaks and dryer gave up the ghost, sigh), doing laundry for 6 people is not quick, took my kid to the bank, ran a few more boring errands, and I'm pressed for time. The challenge is "Books", which is probably a pretty easy one to do, but I want to be kinda different from the masses. Without my caffeine to fuel me my mind is drawing a blank! This photo is alI I could come up with for now:

A cliché,  I know, but I didn't have time to run to my library before the deadline, so I made do. I love the macro setting on my new camera! Did not have that on my other one, makes such a big difference.
Now it's noon, and I'm taking a much needed coffee break. It's in an ugly, cracked plastic cup or I'd take a picture to share. Another day. :) I'm thinking of finding another challenge I can work on this afternoon, if my family cooperates and no one needs me. Fingers crossed!

Day 14

Still raining here, so my beautiful scenery photos have to wait, but we need the rain so it's all good. Wet days mean my hubby isn't outside, so it's very hard to stage a good photo session with him underfoot. So, I just took my dogs to the lake for some exercise and shot a few quick pics and called it a day. Again, not exactly award winning, or particularly challenging either, but at least the entire day wasn't  a dud, right?  Tomorrow's challenge will either be a faceless portrait or holiday themed. We shall see! Hope you're having an AMAZING day! Check out my new but evergrowing istock portfolio HERE !! Or my Adobe portfolio HERE Or my Shutterstock portfolio HERE

First Post This Year!

I hope you had a fun and safe New Year!  As I mentioned before, my wedding anniversary was on New Year's Eve, so my hubby took me to our favorite place for a Scorpion Bowl, or two 😉.  Took a couple of my kids with us to drive, one of the perks of having a houseful of teens, I guess!   My awesome hubby bought me flowers, of course, which I promptly disassembled and took pictures of, and played around in Photoshop,  on my NEW LAPTOP that Santa (or my son's and hubby) bought me for Christmas.  I was so excited! Still am, thus all the explanation points. (!!!) Pretty, right? They are pretty all together in their vase too, I assure you.  Ok, I took a quick pic with my cell phone, just to show he did indeed buy me a "bunch" of flowers, not just the two I edited above. :) And a card too! Since I was in such a good mood, and my profile pic on HERE is now from last year, I took a selfie, cause...

Day Four: Getty Images

So, today's challenge is a little different.  I had applied some of my photos for istock/Getty to buy, you have to send 15 examples of your work with your application, and I got an email saying I've been approved. So today I went through about 4000 of my photos, narrowed it down to 100, roughly, renamed them all to be in similar categories, ran them through photoshop real quickly to make sure they were high resolution and the right size, and finally, FINALLY, submitted them today, after choosing 50 mostly water themed photos. Phew! Once they were uploaded to Getty I had to add a title, description,  and at least 5 tag words. Took me forever. Once I figured out what to do it was just repetitive and time consuming, not very difficult.  How many ways can you describe a rocky coastline, or a lighthouse at sunrise? That was the hardest part. So. Fingers crossed that my very first submission was processed correctly, I do live in the sticks and my WiFi comes and goes. Toes cross...
